This group of elephant drawings is from a larger series of drawings of things I adore.  These drawings are based on a dream. For many years I had a dream in which I was unable to find my way home.  In this particular dream, I am riding my bike home, it is twilight and I am anxious to get there before dark. The route is on a very hilly, perfectly smooth blacktop country road. It is hard to peddle up the hills but once on top, I am able to practically fly down the other side of each hill.

At the bottom of one of them, I see bright lights emanating from a small house. I leave my bike and go up to the house. I can hear music and smell flowers. Looking in through the windows, I realize the house is full of elephants celebrating. I walk into the house and see family pictures and small knickknack sculptures of elephants. As I make my way to the back of the house, I see elephants lining up to fly off towards the sunset. I awoke waiting in line.

Materials:  Bees wax, shellac, graphite, rabbit skin glue, on tissue paper.
