ARTWORK
Project: Walking in My Sleep

Walking in My Sleep, 2014
installed drawings with wire and light

In this work Hutt crafts delicately shifting scenarios of human situation, suggesting the tenuous space between dreams and reality through the humble means of wire, light and shadow. Her process of shaping the wire forms echoes her shaping the clay figures of her Daily Diary piece — but with the airiness of the wire and shadow lines drawn by the light a counterpoint to the earthly solidity of the self-hardening clay.

“This work is a return to my drawing roots. Each object is designed with the same feel for space and volume that my drawing is based on. Using light the lines form the whole of the piece.”
