I had no idea when I laid out the idea for My Mother's Legacy that it would turn into such a life-altering experience. Now, looking back over more than twenty exhibitions, numerous university talks, and amazing experiences, I want to take this opportunity to thank a few more people.

I can never thank Paulette Singer enough for having faith in that idea and including it in her traveling exhibition A Distinct Grace: Before, During, and After Breast Cancer. Having the opportunity to travel around the country and to meet so many people was a gift. The local breast cancer foundations and hospitals that supported the eight exhibitions introduced me to so many brave, courageous people and gave me many good friends.

A very special thank you to journalist Susan Stamberg, Special Correspondent for National Public Radio for her Morning Edition interview in 1999 and her continued support for the project; and to Rabbi Gerald Kane, Temple Beth El in Las Cruces, New Mexico, who was inspired by that interview and wrote his 1999 Yom Kippur sermon based on it. It was through his efforts that the exhibit traveled to the University of New Mexico in Las Cruces. Both these people gave me the introspection that I had been unable to achieve. It gave me a renewed sense of my mother and a dimension to her memory I had been unable to attain on my own.

And for the many people who have taken the time to share their mothers with me in letters and in person, and to those who have sent and continue to send me wooden bowls (list below), I can never express how much it means to me, thank you.

The realization of My Mother's Legacy was supported by a residency at MacDowell, Peterborough, NH, as well as sculpture fellowships from the New England Foundation for the Arts and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
